FRIDAY 'OF PASSION - Procession of the Sorrowful

Unlike what happens in Molfetta, the Septenary in honor of Our Lady of Sorrows is celebrated only in a church, and specifically in the Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary which is the statue of 'Our Lady of Sorrows, carried in procession on Good Friday.
A guard instead dressed the statue of 'Our Lady of Sorrows carried in procession on Good Friday, is the Brotherhood of the Presentation in the Temple Mary S. In the church of St. Joachim Ignatius.
Before the sacred image crosses the threshold of the church of S. Ignatius, on the evening of Good Friday, through an open and only brother, the Madonna is crowned.
Around 19:00 to 19:30, together with the town band played funeral marches, the statue out of the church recently changed to an itinerary for reasons internal to the Brotherhood and the Spiritual Father.
The pivotal moment is when the procession reaches the Lady of Calvary, where the prayer is recited and prayers to the five wounds of Christ.
Calvary, neo-Gothic structure located next to the old church Madonna della Stella, in their respective niches contains five crosses, symbolizing the many "sorrowful mysteries" of which will be commemorated in inscriptions at the foot of every cross. It was built in 1856 and that same year, when the structure was still in the process of erection, was the first procession of 'Sorrows.
From the minutes show that the procession, which took place in the presence of most of the population, of the Congregation and Gentlemen of the city, took place in a somewhat unusual date: January 5, 1856, the eve of 'Epiphany, and then in full cycle liturgical season of Christmas.
This choice was probably due to the fact that the faith of citizens had become become uncontrollable, as we recall the documents that speak of races to compete for the privilege of carrying the statue of the Madonna. A
devotion of 'Sorrows was also built the Third' Order of the Servants or the Addolorata, which was located always in the church of S. Ignatius, but now extinct.
After the plea, the procession resumed its end, at about 22.30, with the return of the Madonna in the church of S. Ignatius.
